John Adams was born in Braintree, Massachusetts on October 30, 1735. He was born in what was known as Massachusetts Bay Colony. Adams was named after his father John Adams, a framer from Braintree. John Adams was the oldest of three boys, the younger two were Peter Boylston and Elihu. Adams mother is Susanna Boylston. Adams Graduated from Harvard College in 1755. At harvard he studied to be a lawyer. John Adams was a federalist and a Patriot. For many years John Adams had a nickname of "Atlas of Independence". John Adams was the first vice-president of the United States, for George Washington. Later in 1764 John Adams married Abigail smith. Together they had five children. Abigail Amelia Adams (1765-1813), John Quincy Adams (1767-1848), Susanna Adams (1768-1770), Charles Adams (1770-1800), and Thomas Boylston Adams (1770-1832). When John Adams was a young child, not even in school, his father tought him how to read.
John Adams was a very determinded man. He was uncomfortable around strangers and did not like small talk. Adams refused to flatter peopleand had a temper. He detested off-colored jokes. John Adams described himself as obnoxious and unpopular. In his life Adams was an average height. Even through Adams was not social, he gave wonderful speaks. One was when John Adams and Thomas Jefferson brought up the idea about the Declaration of Independence.
After Adams presidency he want back to his hometown, Braintree (now known as Quincy). In adams retired years he ran again for president but had lost against Thomas Jefferson. Adams and Jefferson kept in touch by writing letters. Adams got to see his son be elected as the sixth president. Adams and his son were the first to have a father and a son be elected as president. Adams last word were, "Thomas Jefferson still lives", but Jefferson died a few hours before Adams did. He died on July 4, 1826.
