John Adams was George Washington's vice president from 1789-1796. He was elected in his own right in 1796. He kept most of the members of George Washington's cabinet. He was a Federalist. He also was a big family man. His wife Abigail Adams had ten of his childeren in her life time married to John Adams. Some of which were born in his time as the president. He got letters and advice from his wife during his time in office. She was known as a vary smart women for her time and a big help to all.
John Adams made the first American navy. He presidented the Alien and Sedition Acts to the congress. He also made the "Essay on the Canon and Fedral law". This said that the Stamp Act deprived American colonists of the basic right to be taxed by consent and to be tried by a jury of peers.He agreed to be the British soldiers' attorney. They were on trail for killing five people in the Boston Massacre. Though 6 of the 8 British soldiers were killed, it was later said that John Adams had done the right thing. After this John Adams' popularity went down so that he lost the next election of 1800 to his vice president, Thomas Jefferson.
